Don Coram is a former Colorado State Representative and State Senator with a long record of bipartisan public service focused on protecting children, families, agriculture, and rural communities. The “R” after his name when in office stood for “Rural”. Some of the highlights in experience he brings to CSN Colorado and Nationwide include:

• Served in the Colorado House of Representatives and later the Colorado State Senate
• Sponsored and passed numerous bills aimed at child protection, public safety, and community well-being
• Longstanding advocate for school-bus safety and student protection initiatives
• Beginning prior to 2019, while still in the Senate, Don contracted CSN to come to Colorado and review and assist in the safety and security of his state’s school buses and the 788,000 students that rode them twice daily.

• Helped engage federal subject-matter experts, including Department of Homeland Security and TSA personnel, on school-bus security issues
• Supported programs designed to improve safety across large multi-district school systems
• Champion of advanced training, technology adoption, and public-education strategies to protect students
• Associated with the CSN SafeRide™ program, aimed at making school transportation safer nationwide
• Serves as a Senior Advisor to the National Board of Directors of Child Safety Network
• Leadership role not limited to Colorado, supports national child-safety initiatives

Current Role with Child Safety Network

• Appointed President of Child Safety Network Colorado
• Leading expansion of CSN activities across Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region
• Focus on deploying evidence-based safety programs, public awareness campaigns, and protective technologies
• Working to reduce injuries, fatalities, and risks facing children in transportation and other environments
