Stephen Tako is an Anti-Bullying Advocate & Motivational Speaker; As a former victim of relentless bullying in his youth, Stephen uses his life experiences to help other children avoid the same pain he was forced to endure. He also helps people of all ages with the healing process needed after experiences with bullying.
Stephen is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators; he has authored several anti-bullying themed books for adults and children. As a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA), he has produced, directed, cast, and performed in several films and public service announcements focusing on youth issues such as bullying, discrimination, neglect and suicide.
One of Stephen’s most ambitious projects is the development of his character Junga the Dancing Yeti™. In an award-winning series of books and films, this fictional character experiences bullying and discrimination issues because of his appearance. Children ages 4-7 learn important life-lessons so critical for their age group regarding empathy, inclusion, overcoming age-appropriate adversity and other related issues.
His talk show “Tako Talk” includes over 30 episodes where Stephen interviewed people who have been bullied and how they overcame their hardships. Additional guests on his show were former self-proclaimed bullies, celebrities who shared their personal stories and encouragement and licensed therapists who specialize in early childhood development.
Stephen has been seen on international podcasts, radio shows and live stages to discuss bullying prevention. He also has a successful and inspirational storytelling presentation for primary school children titled “Meet the Author”. In this virtual or in-person program, children learn the importance of team building, using their creative gifts and overcoming limiting beliefs. Since 2010, Stephen has been the regular host of the Los Angeles Movie Awards, NYLA International Film Festival and the Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood.
